Keep Calm And...

How I keep calm before the biggest entrance exam of my life.

Gabrielle Aplin's English Rain on repeat. I have recently been into music whose singers have shaky voices and rusty guitars.

Yesterday's essentials: yellow Sharpie, watercolor brush, ivory black watercolor pencil, Indian red colored pencil, soft peach Promarker, 0.2 tipped drawing pen, 5B pencil, red soft pastel, and a Faber Castell eraser.

How do you feel today? Markers and pen on paper. Completed two incomplete drawings and finished three new ones. Yesterday was beautiful.

The Moon is a Magnet, watercolor on paper

I applied for a cargo collective account and got in! I'm really excited about the things I'm going to be posting there. I'll be uploading all my art fart. Stories, poems, essays, art... more than I post here.

Already posted something. Check it out! wheee

midnight thoughts

people want to find peace and a place where belonging is felt.

people try looking in places, things, and other people that don't last.

people need to realize that what they're looking for

is not of this world.

when all security fails, I'll be there

Tales From The Hidden Attic by Michael V. Manalo

“Maybe if my legs were slim,
and my lips rose-pink,
and my hair like silk,
and my hands white petals,
you would love me more.
Maybe if I could sing,
and dance,
and capture people with my
star-like smile,
you would look at me more closely.
Maybe if my grades
never saw an 89,
you would smile,
and clap,
and tell me wonderful things.
Maybe if I spoke with
a silver tongue and
could convince with my
bright, 20/20 vision eyes,
you would hug me tighter.
Maybe if…”

Child, maybe, maybe, maybe.
But, really,
even if your legs were elephants,
your lips blue,
your hair seaweed,
and your hands sandpaper,
I would still love you.

Even if your voice
sounded like frogs at night,
and your feet
stepped all over mine,
and your mouth
was cut up from all of that fixing metal,
I would still love you.

Even if your grades
never saw an 89,
I would still love you
and tell you all sorts of wonderful things.
Even if your tongue was bound by chains,
and you tripped and stumbled over your vowels,
I would still love you.

Child, to them your legs may not be slim,
your lips may not be the shade of roses,
your hair may not be silk,
and all of those silly, fickle, worldly things, but
to me,
you are beautiful.
So beautiful.
I breathed out the stars for you.
I created for you.
I shed for you.
I bled for you.
I died for you.

Why
do you still doubt?
Why
do you still fear?
Why
do you still look at yourself
in a way
that makes you question what I have made?

Child, look at me.
Look.
at.
Me.
I love you.
I love you.
I love you.

"The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls." -Pablo Picasso

Hey, art lovers and everyone who just appreciates art! I never mentioned it before, but I'm part of my school's Art Club, and in collaboration with the Young Entrepreneurs and Cooking Club, we'll be holding an art exhibit and auction!

The exhibit will be from February 5-8 from 4-5pm at the VCIS Creative Arts room on the second floor. This is so that buyers can look at the artworks and decide which ones they want to purchase before the actual auction on February 8.

The auction will be from 6-8pm at the quadrangle, and there will be food and good company, so come!

Hope to see you there!

Sick

Didn't go to school today. Rashes all over my arms and legs and they itch sometimes, but not too badly. Caught them from my brother, who had them last week. I slept beside him the night he got well, but I guess he wasn't well after all.

He came home earlier than usual today, because apparently he's got a fever. :( He threw the door open earlier this afternoon, eager to do something with me. I made him take a bath and rest, first. Ate talaga.

This is what we sick, bored kids did this afternoon while listening to Underoath. Luis' request.

We decided to paint on a canvas with no subject matter in mind.

"Let's each paint half of the canvas!" I suggested.

"Okay!"

I drew a line in green paint to separate our halves of the canvas and we began to paint.

What our canvas looked like before we started painting. I don't know why, but Luis squeezed a generous amount of purple acrylic paint from the tube and painting the wooden things that come with the canvas before actually painting the canvas.

See them on that plate near his leg? That was supposed to be his palette, but oh well.

We didn't even plan the painting, but both sides ended up being connected to each other. Luis said his side was a representation of the Philippine flag, and my side had a brown-skinned man with a sun-like shape and a red handprint.

I have no photography skills, I know.

We signed our names with red on the side. We had a lot of fun, and I'm excited for the other things we'll do tomorrow.

Sky Sailing

Here's the oil painting I submitted for ACSI. It's not very good, since it was really rushed. I actually made two paintings, because I didn't like this one. I'll post a picture of the other painting another time. I brought both paintings to Mrs. Rocha and to Ms. Linny, and they both told me to submit this one.

You might be wondering why I painted this. This is actually a remake. I made a drawing of this painting in my art journal before using markers. I changed some things, though, such as the houses below.

This painting shows how young people have wild imagination and can accomplish things that seem impossible. The girl riding a paper plane represents that. Also, when it seems like no one sees the good things you do, God does. Like the moon in the night sky, He sees you even though no one does.

Sunday Morning

Drew this drawing of Meg & Dia in Tagaytay awhile ago. Planning to paint it with watercolors, then post it on deviantart. My mom, sister, brother, and I stayed overnight in my lola's house in BiƱan, Laguna. Then, we took her to Tagaytay where we spent the morning and afternoon in a friend's house.

And yes, I was listening to Sunday Morning by Maroon 5.

The house is a really nice country-style house. I have no pictures, because Fumi didn't bring her camera. Sucks. The house is really cute.

I ate three slices of butter cake with tarragon tea. No regrets, it was delicious. The cake was from Mom & Tina's. Actually, the house we stayed in in Tagaytay belongs to the owners of Mom & Tina's. Awesome, right?

The cake was so good and looked so good, I just had to take pictures of it with my phone and make it my wallpaper.

St. Basil's Cathedral: The Making (Not Really)

So, I joined the ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) Fine Arts Festival. It's basically an art competition. I joined the crayon art and oil painting for art, and solo female and band for music. I drew St. Basil's Cathedral in Moscow, Russia for the crayon art. And yes, I used Crayola crayons.

I just love Russia so much, okay. If you didn't know, I kind of grew up there. Yup, spent the first four years of my life there. No, I'm not fluent anymore, but I used to be, because I went to preschool there.

I crammed this whole thing in about three to five days, because my mom threatened me that if I didn't finish the artwork, I wouldn't be able to go to my friend's house. So, it took me three days to draw, redraw, and color a bit, and two days to finish off everything.

The most stressful part about it was drawing the details. I had to draw the whole thing twice, because it would be too hard to color the first one.

I'm just so glad I'm done! I'll post pictures of the oil painting soon.

Art

One of the things I love the most in the world is...

Art!

I absolutely LOOOOVEEEE it! One of things I wanna be when I grow up is an artist. I love using all kinds of mediums such as acrylic, watercolor, oil, pastel, colored pencils, pen, pencil, and charcoal.

I spend a huge chunk of my time on the Internet just searching for awesome artists and artworks. I find them on deviantart, blogspot, and other sources I just happen to stumble upon. Here are a few of my favorite artists and their works.

Leonid Afremov

He's a Jewish Belarusian painter who graduated from Vitebsk Art School in Vitebsk, Russia. He now lives in the States where he makes a living off of his paintings. Click here to view his works.

What I like about Leonid Afremov is that he uses a palette knife to make his oil paintings, and not a paintbrush. Also, he paints a lot of dancers and musicians. What I don't like about him is that some of his paintings look redundant, like he can't think of anything else to paint.

Bravo

Mike Stilkey

He's an American artist from California who likes painting on vintage paper, book pages, record covers, and on books themselves. His artworks look like something that just jumped off the pages of a fairy tale book. Click here to view his works.

I love how creative he his. Of course, it's kind of sad for all those books to be painted on, but the results are beautiful.

Phobs

I don't know if Phobs is her real name. I don't even know if Phobs is a girl or a guy, but something tells me that Phobs is a girl. I don't really know. It's just a feeling, but I'm pretty sure she's a girl. What I do know about Phobs, though, is that she's a 21 year old, Russian, history nerd who's also a really awesome artist. Her works are mostly history themed. Click here to view her works or visit her deviantart account. Oh, and she loves Thor.
